Chelsea announced today, Thursday evening, the signing of Potter to take over as coach of the team, after the departure of Thomas Tuchel.

According to the newspaper “The Sun”, Potter, the former Brighton coach, agreed to contract with the Blues for a period of 5 years, after quick negotiations that began on Wednesday.

The Blues moved quickly to sign Potter, to replace Tuchel, who was sacked after the Blues lost 0-1 to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Brighton did not hesitate to allow The Blues to speak to his coach, and opening talks were held between the two parties, hours after Tuchel was sacked.

After positive discussions with owners Todd Boyle and Bagdad Egbali, Potter agreed to coach the Blues.

A compensation package of at least £20m has been completed for Brighton, with further payments to cover the loss of coaches Billy Reid and Bjorn Hamburg as well as transfer expert Kyle Macaulay, all of whom will move to the Blues with the new coach.

The coach spent 120 minutes at Brighton’s training center on Thursday morning, gathering his things before bidding farewell to the club and heading to the Blues’ training ground in Cobham to seal the deal.
